Job Description
We are looking for an organized and meticulous Accounting Specialist to join our team in New Orleans, Louisiana. In this short-term contract to full time role, you will play a key part in managing funding applications, ensuring compliance with program regulations, and delivering exceptional customer service. This position offers an opportunity to support small food and agriculture businesses by overseeing reimbursement processes and maintaining accurate financial records.
Responsibilities:
• Process and finalize funding applications submitted by food and agriculture companies, ensuring adherence to organizational guidelines.
• Serve as a liaison to assist companies throughout the application and reimbursement process, providing clear communication and support.
• Review submitted documentation to ensure compliance with program regulations and process expense claims or reimbursements accordingly.
• Notify companies of claims that fall outside established guidelines and provide guidance on required corrections.
• Maintain accurate records of reimbursements and claims to ensure compliance with government funding requirements.
• Utilize intermediate-level Excel skills to analyze data and manage financial information effectively.
• Prioritize and manage multiple deadlines, ensuring timely processing of applications and reimbursements.
• Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries and providing solutions in a thoughtful and approachable manner.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure the smooth operation of funding and reimbursement programs.
• Take initiative to follow up with companies and ensure all required documentation is submitted on time.
• Previous experience with grants or contracts, including familiarity with funds allocation rules and strict deadlines, is preferred.
• Proficiency in intermediate-level Microsoft Excel for data analysis and financial record management.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide excellent customer service.
• Proven ability to set deadlines, prioritize tasks, and maintain organization in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing functions, and account reconciliation.
• Knowledge of government grants and claims processing is an asset.
• Proactive and detail-oriented approach to work, with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
• Ability to work collaboratively while maintaining a personable and organized demeanor.
